A Staff RN receives a staring wage of $37,000 and an RN with a Masters Degree starts at $49,700. These nursing salaries increase after three or more years of experience.
A Masters Level RN can expect to earn $59,600 after working as a nurse for three or more years. The salary of a Staff RN will rise to $44,200 after she has worked for more than three years. Three or more years of nursing experience will increase the RN’s salary to $47,110.
Salaries depend to some extent on the area where the RN is living and working. For example, the cost of living in New York City is much higher than in Hope, Arkansas. This has an effect on the salary that can be expected.
Median salaries are the result of averaging out those differences. Fifty percent of all working RNs in the United States can depend on earning anywhere from $38,792 to $44,869. Different types of workplaces command different salaries also.

As the educational level decreases so does the salary. An LPN is a Licensed Practical Nurse. She earns $33,500 each year. There is a position for the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). He or she earns a starting salary of $19,925 and after experience $29,764. Some top level CNAs have been known to earn as much as $35,377.
