Learning more about history while watching television

Historians are now making it clearer on how it really went in the past.  There are documentaries on television that deal on detail about the history of countries, inventions and wars between countries.  The latest I’ve seen is a documentary on World War II with actual footage and in colour.  On the war against Germany, all the while I thought the U.S. got involved at the same time with the U.K.  I learned that the U.S. got into the war when the U.K. refused peace terms with Germany.  At first the U.S. helped the U.K. by sending supplies.  But when Germany made the mistake of hitting one of the US battleships escorting merchant ships, that sparked the U.S. to war against them.  I forgot my wow username.  Hitler was avoiding confrontation with the U.S.

Also, I thought that WW II started at the same time with the war against Japan.  The war in Europe started in 1939 while the war against Japan started in December 1941 after the attack on Pearl Harbour.  It was really good that the U.S. has recovered from the 1930 recession and their productivity was up.  They were able to manufacture war materiel while in the war against Germany and Japan.  I forgot my wow login.

Just wondering – what if the Germans and Japanese won WW II?  Let’s say Germans rule and dominate the west while Japan the east.  Cars on the west will be Mercedes, Volkswagen, Porche and BMWs.   On the east it will be Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and Nissan. For internationally accepted currency and language alone they would have gone to war with it.  At that time their leaders were war freaks and only thought of dominating the entire world.
