Writing The Perfect Eulogy Speech

It is never easy when a friend or family member passes.  It can be an overwhelming time for family and friends and if you’ve been asked to deliver the eulogy, then it can be even more stressful.  The first thing that you need to know about giving a eulogy speech is that you want to make the speech about the deceased.  Talk about who they were in your life and the lives of others.  Were they a brother, husband, father, boss?  Talk about their roles and how they affected the people around them.

If you’ve been asked to give the eulogy, then you should start with an outline.  This is the best way to get your thoughts down on paper in an organized fashion.  It allows you to quickly develop the flow of your speech and create a structure before you begin writing it. 

After writing the outline, you can then begin writing the rough draft.  Don’t worry about trying to be perfect.  Just write as much as you can, even if you feel like it is unorganized or not flowing.  You will go back later and restructure it and organize it to flow properly.

Once the rough draft has been completed, then put it down for a while if you have extra time.  When you pick it back up to write your final speech, make sure you read it carefully and use a pencil to scratch things out, restructure paragraphs and sentences.  Don’t be shy when you are marking up your eulogy speech.  Pretend like you are a teacher with that big red marker and go to town.  This will help you develop the perfect eulogy.

New Tribes Mission Educating and Reaching The Unreached

When you’ve been spreading the word of God to the far corners of the earth for 68 years, you know you must be doing something right. Such is the case with New Tribes Mission. This organization, founded in 1942 is a Christian missionary organization that has been spreading God’s word, opening up new churches and providing humanitarian aid since it was founded in Los Angeles by Paul Fleming. What began as a solo missionary working in the British colony of Malaya has turned into a global initiative. Although this missionary organization was begun in America,  nearly 40% of it’s members are from outside the USA.  The goal of New Tribes Mission is to reach the unreached and to translate the scriptures of the Bible into the locals native language. Additionally, they help set up indigenous New Testament churches that can run independently of the missionaries. There are apparently still plenty to go around as 2,500 of the 6,500 world groups have still not been reached by Christianity.

This is a large task for any group and a great deal of planning, training and effort goes into the missionary personnel base. When New Tribes Mission first identifies an area that has no translation of the Bible, the work begins. The first thing that must happen is contact and relationship building. The Mission puts the highest priority on areas where the language is unique and thus isolated linguistically from the gospel. At this point, missionaries are sent in to learn the language thoroughly. They might live with a group for up to two years learning the language and establishing connections and the trust of the local people.

One thing that sets New Tribes Mission apart from other missionary organizations is the amount of training that goes into it’s participants. NTM requires that all it’s members complete a training program that can take up to four years to complete. It ends to with the trainee receiving the equivilent of a four year degree. Although it’s unaccredited, most Bible colleges will accept it as transfer credits. While the first phase of the training is in Bible knowledge, the second is a complete and total immersion into cross cultural communication, language analysis and church planning. This training prepares the missionary for his role as ambassador to the rest of the world.

January is National Thank You Month up your thank yous daily

Celebrate the last week in national thank you month, by sending thank you notes every single day. Just send send seven notes and watch how great you feel. Want to feel even better? Here are ways to add more thanks in a day. Try to get at least twenty thank yous in a day.

 

1) Say thank you to a co-worker every time they hand you a piece of paper or a file.

2) Say thank you to anyone who waits on you. Yes, you’re the customer, but do it anyway.

3) Does your husband, wife or roommate make you a cup of coffee or dinner every night? Then say thank you for each and every meal.

4) No one to thank? There’s always God or Nature or the Universe at large. Thank you for this beautiful day.

5) There’s the thank you wave in traffic. Always a hit.

6) Don’t forget to say thank you for every compliment you get. Dress nice so you’ll get more.

7) Thank people for calling you.

8) Thank people for thinking of you even if you can’t go to the event or make a purchase.

9) Smile and say  thank you for favors and acts of courtesy such as holding the door, pressing the elevator or cross-walk button.

10) Say thank you to your dog for greeting you at the door or your pet for their company. You know you talk to your pet anyway.

 

Does this all sound corny? Yes, it is. Does it work? Abolutely!
